CVAA ( Champlain Valley Agency on Aging) along with hundreds of Meals on Wheels providers across the country are asking people in the month of March to take the Pledge to End Senior Hunger by 2020. Nationally over 8.3 million seniors face hunger each day. You can help go to cvaa.org and take the pledge. This campaign is designed to bring attention to the problem of senior hunger. Together we can solve this problem. Locally CVAA delivers over 245,000 Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors right here in the Champlain Valley. It’s March for Meals Month and this month we will be focusing on this campaign and senior hunger. In 2002, The Meals on Wheels Association of American created the campaign, March for Meals, as a way to highlight senior hunger. I encourage you to find out about your local Meals on Wheels program during March. Area Meals on Wheels programs are always looking for volunteers to deliver. Donations are also always appreciated. This week I am devoting the blog to Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system. This is an unpredictable disease and progress, symptoms, and severity vary for those affected. MS occurs when the immune system attacks the central nervous system. Andrew continued CPR...

Women are dying at the rate of one per minute from heart disease. I found this statistic staggering and devastating which is why I’m turning this week’s blog over to the American Heart Association. I hope you will educate yourself about heart disease and ways to prevent it. Also, if you live in Vermont, join the Vermont chapter of the American...

While doing my Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) research for this month’s blog entries, it has become clear that one of the most effective ways to treat this is with light therapy. There are many products available out there for you to simply purchase but if you are feeling more adventurous and want to try your hand and building a light box here are some instructions I found on the website Livstrong.com: Step 1 Paint or spray the inside of your plywood box with flat, white house paint (low VOC). Allow to dry thoroughly before proceeding....
