Making decisions before the crisis hits

Have you thought about planning for your healthcare choices in the event that you’re not able to speak and or advocate for yourself?  Have your family members? Well, if you haven’t or don’t know where to start, April is your month.  April kicks of the National Healthcare Decision month and more specifically, April 16th is the National Healthcare Decision Day (NHDD).  The movement, started by the non-profit, NHDD, aims to “inspire, educate and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.   This month I’ll write about the various documents you should have prepared in case of a serious illness or if you’re not able to speak for yourself.  I’ll also write about strategies and tools to start a family conversation about this often difficult topic and finally about organ donation.   Keep reading!
